In the beginning...
This story is certainly not complete, but it will give the reader (that's you) a little taste of what made us decide to apparently totally alter our lives, divest ourselves of all our worldly posessions and hit the high seas on a small sailboat.

A long time ago in a place near the blue-brown waters of the Gulf of Mexico lived a young, ambitious geek and his really nifty family. The geek was incredibly steeped in this very nifty unix-like operating system (freebsd) and spent all his time playing with it, except when he was at work, and then he simply changed the word "playing" to "working" and everyone was happy. Well, mostly happy anyway.

One day the geek awoke and found himself in a northern town full of very busy people and far away from his family. He was working closely with a friend of his who, though not a geek, was a very smart guy. The geek and the smart guy realized that they could start a new little company selling a nifty gadget the geek had built. The new gadget would help other little companies work smarter and safer on this nifty newish thing called THE INTERNET (supposedly invinted by another very smart, non-geek, named Al Gore)

The geek and the smart guy's new little company did well and grew. And grew. And one day the geek awoke to find himself in the same little town near the blue-brown waters of the Gulf of Mexico. But he hadn't really found himself at all. Not yet.

And the little company continued to grow and grow.

And the geek realized that the little company wasn't a little company any more. And it would never be one again. And it was time for him to leave that child that was all grown up now and return to his other children. And so he left his no-longer-little company and the smart guy and went home.

And he found that home was a place he'd never really been and that it was incredibly wonderful and nifty. And that it wasn't a place near the blue-brown waters of the Gulf of Mexico after all. It was a place on the deep blue waters of the planet ocean. And so he and his mate and his children and their cat found a little boat and set out for home.
