"The pit," you ask? Indeed. I'm not sure when I first noticed that my surroundings had taken on that distinctively pittish air. Sometime late last week, I believe. It was likely around the same time that I realized there were only three months remaining between now and our departure dates. Three months to get the boat to Florida, step the masts, run new rigging, rebuild the heads, fix the refrigeration, possibly apply an entirely new bottom...Once this realization sank in, I sunk in as well. Into the pit, of course. Yesterday I found that it is possible the boat won't ship from Rhode Island this Friday, as planned, but may be delayed yet another week for various reasons (all outside the control of Mark Perry, I must add - he's a fantastic human, you know). So, with the pit closing in around, or rather, my sinking deeper and deeper into its bowels, I've decided to attempt a reemergence. I've temporarily set aside my slacker ways. I'm not sure how much good this will do without a boat upon which to unleash my lack of slackerness, but that's a detail I've not yet checked off my tick list. At least I can see the clear blue sky again... Actually it's quite cloudy and stormy right now, but it's all blue to me.
