From the Mizzen
February 23, 2001

You see, when I agreed to write this column, I had visions of full sails and creamy wakes, a life of adventure. Even a provisioning venture sounds exciting at this juncture. Instead, I am mopped into a corner of our large lovely house (quite literally, thank you, Dearest.) with my laptop and several assorted piles of laundry. There are weeds to be pulled and bathrooms to be cleaned. Good Omens is weeks from arriving, and sailling season is beginning without us. Well, not really, but the weather is really nice, and I'd love to be out on the water. At any rate, obviously I have decided to write this column, so bear with me and we'll see what I can come up with.
