Return from Snowy Rhode Island
January 13, 2001

You can breathe again; you're off the hook. You'll find no shimmering, waivering, wafting smarmishness here. Sorry. Thomas Kinkade's last appearance in our household in the form of a full color pictoral calendar was quickly transformed into fantastically festive wrapping paper for New Year's gifts.

You were worried, though weren't you? Admit it, a part of you was poised on the edge of your contoured, ergo-molded workstation chaise hoping beyond hope to catch a glimmer of wholesome goodness as it wafted from these words into your deepest psyche. No such thing will ever happen on my watch.

But, the good news is that I'm back from Rhode Island for the next few weeks, so the articles will continue unimpeded for the time being. Also, preparations are being made to allow for "from the road" updates to the daily article page, so my next trip up country should not find you, the discerning reader, without your daily dose of sailgeek wit.

Of course, there is probably a group, possibly quite large, of visitors to this site for whom a week, perhaps longer, of nonexistent daily articles is a good thing. In fact, I feel I must admit there are days when I would be among the aforementioned group. Perhaps leading the group. Loudly. Regardless, the articles will continue until morale improves.

The coming week promises a nice harvest of anecdotes from the fertile grounds of the Rhode Island boat yard scene, replete with photographs and perhaps a diagram or two.
