The Northern Carolina
December 18, 2000

We're in lovely Jacksonville, North Carolina witnessing our brother's fly in. It's an amazing experience to watch as these massive helicopters slowly lumber their way towards land. They look like massive mosquitos. They're actually rather fast, but their size makes them appear quite slow since you can see them from an incredible distance - they slowly grow in size until they're absolutely enormous. How do we use these things in combat? The enemy can see and hear us from the next country!

Of course, perhaps that's the idea. Anyway, Nick come flying in on a massive helicopter and we're there to meet him. It's an amazingly patriotic-feeling event - even if you're not usually given to patriatism, this showing of incredible mechanical strength and agility will at least give you pause to feel. And it's a nifty feeling. But the best part is seeing Nick again - he's been at sea now for six months aboard his (your) aircraft carrier. The modern marvel of satellites and email has kept us all in touch, but it's just great to finally see him again. Know he's real. Know he's back on solid ground.

I wonder if we could rig up a fly in from Good Omens? I've heard there's a company marketing a flying dinghy.
