What am I doing?
December 12, 2000

Let has take a moment to thank the powers - whatever powers you like - that Monday has past. It's gone. It's history. My new image of purgatory is one in which we're forced to sit through eternal reruns of "The Best of Mondays" hosted by Phyllis Diller.

Why is it that "The Best of..." shows on television really aren't? I strongly believe the national network's airing of these types of programs is conclusive evidence of the existence of hell. We may all have different images of the afterlife as it appears to the kind-spirited deceased. Perhaps some of us have no place in our world views for an afterlife for the well-behaved. However, I guarantee there's an afterlife for the Regis Philbins of the universe, and it's chock full of television sets belting out episode upon episode of "The Best of..." shows.

Which brings me to today's topic. It's not Monday. It's Tuesday. The world still exists. There's still a fence that needs replacing in the backyard. There's still a bunch of curtain-less windows begging for cover in the house. There's still an old kerosene tank in the back yard waiting patiently for a trip to the land-fill.

There's still a million things to be done before next June and they're all one day closer to being completed now that it's Tuesday.

Just think how great Wednesday will feel!
