Monday Monday.
December 11, 2000

Monday has sprung. Or, perhaps more precisely, Monday has leapt in front of us like some big leaping thing, set itself squarely in our path, and shows no sign of moving along :peaceably.

Perhaps I'm being excessive. All that separates this particular Monday from the other 51 of the year is that this one has followed the most recent Friday. It was this past Friday that we closed on our new (to us) boat, Good Omens. We have placed so much emphasis on just getting to this point in our plan that we've let slip all the other little things that need to be done before June.

Consider the curtains in our house (both for sale in January) as a perfect example. In fact, all we've done is consider them. All the windows in our house are totally naked. Not a covering upon them. Imagine what the neighbors are thinking right now. On second thought, don't. Every time the thought of curtains for the windows in the house pops into any of our heads it is immediately squelched by the more overpowering thought that we first must close on our new (to us) boat. Thought: finish the stairs? Reaction: No, close on boat.

Well, now we've closed on the crazy thing and three months worth of "we haven't closed on the boat yet" have just leapt into the path of our family life like a big... You know.

So now we're faced with the Monday after. Today we must stop not thinking about all the things we have to do and think. Perhaps tomorrow we'll get around to acting on all these thoughts. At least tomorrow's not Monday.
