

We'll the time has come at last to exchange a bit of work (in the form of US dollars) for a beautiful new-to-us boat-home-thing. The boat is a 1982 Shannon 50 and is the subject of our New Boat page. We've spent the last three months scouring the Internet and marinas looking for a suitable boat after we'd thought we already had one. We had bought a 1989 Irwin 54 floating palace not more than a year ago and were happily working on her to convert her from said floating palace to a solid passage-maker. However, a few long distance trips in her through slightly unpleasant weather forced to us reconsider our choice of water home. Irwins are big. Irwins are comfortable at anchor. Irwins can get into shallow anchorages. Irwins will knock you silly in a storm. So, goodbye Irwin, hello something else. That something else finally had a name when we found Bon Ami, the before-mentioned 1982 Shannon 50.
